Last month, singer and actress, Selena Gomez, announced on Instagram that she had received a living kidney donation from actress, Francia Raisa. Now, Selena is gearing up to tell her story through a documentary about her health issues, including her battle with lupus and her kidney transplant.
According to an insider, “Since having the transplant, Selena’s a changed woman and appreciates how lucky she is. The whole experience has been life-changing.”
The insider also noted that “When she found out that she needed a transplant, she panicked. It has taken all her strength to get through this.”
Although her public comments have focused on her issues with lupus, Selena’s health issues have also raised awareness about transplantation, organ donation, and living donation. The recent press around the documentary also highlighted the issue of organ rejection and the fact that transplanted organs often do not last forever.
Transplantation is simply a treatment, not a cure. We need further research to end organ rejection and to help transplant patients live healthy lives. To help end organ rejection, donate to Power2Save today.
