2017 Transplant Patient Summit
Through the years, the AST has worked diligently to provide an educational and friendly forum for all transplant professionals to advance the field of transplantation and improve patient care. To maximize our organization’s reach and continue to pursue our society’s mission to promote research, education, advocacy, and organ donation, the patient perspective proves to be invaluable to our efforts.
As a new initiative for this year, AST’s leadership is excited to directly work with patients and live donors by hosting the 2017 Transplant Patient Summit, which will take place at the Mayflower Hotel on October 23-24, 2017 in Washington, DC.
The goal of this meeting is to invite two transplant recipients or donors from each state to help them become transplant ambassadors and empower them to advocate for the field of transplantation from both a legislative/regulatory and fundraising capacity. The AST will provide a stipend for travel costs and will cover each attendee or live donor's hotel stay.
Diversity is key to represent the patient voice and make changes in transplant legislation that will drive our society to the forefront of this initiative. Participation in this exciting new initiative is greatly appreciated.
Individuals who have completed the initial Transplant Patient Summit survey will receive an email containing more information and a link to a questionnaire asking for more details regarding their transplant journey. This will assist the task force in making attendee selections. Correspondence will be sent to these individuals the week of April 10, 2017.
All individuals who wish to have the chance to participate must complete their questionnaire no later than Monday, May 1, 2017. Those who have completed the questionnaire can expect to know whether they have been chosen to attend on Friday, June 2, 2017. All notifications will be sent by email.
If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to AST’s Patient Engagement Program Manager, by email (rmassi@myAST.org) or by phone (856-642-4404).
If you have completed the survey, but have not received an email containing a link to the questionnaire, please contact me through the information listed above.
